Journalist candidate still undecided on future career

Former editor-in-chief of 168 Hours paper Satik Seyranyan who nominated herself for the parliamentary elections in constituency 4 in Yerevan’s Arabkir district, lost the battle to governmental candidate Artak Sargsyan, the owner of SAS supermarkets chain.

She has not decided yet whether or not to be back to her editorial position. “I have not decided my further moves yet; I’ll tell as soon as I make up my mind,” she told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

She quitted her editorial post ahead of the election campaign; the editorial office is currently in charge of the paper’s publication.

Five candidates were rivaling for deputy mandate in constituency 4, with representative of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Artak Sargsyan taking the lead with 15381 votes.

Seyranyan got 3591 votes, Heritage party representative Zaruhi Postanjyan garnered 6603, opposition candidate, chairman of Armenian National Movement Aram Manukyan came with 5278 and independent candidate Alexan Minasyan was left with 814 votes.

Parliamentary elections were held in Armenia on May 6. According to the data received from all of 1982 polling stations, parties and blocs gained the following number of votes:

Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) – 663 066 (44,05 %)

Prosperous Armenia Party – 454 684 (30,20 %)

Heritage party - 87 095 (5,79 %)

Armenian National Congress (ANC) bloc – 106 910 (7,10 %)

ARF Dashnaktsutyun – 86 296 (5,73 %)

Orinats Yerkir – 82 690 (5,49 %)

Democratic Party of Armenia (DPA) – 5 633 (0,37 %)

Communist Party of Armenia – 15 933 (1,06 %)

United Armenians party – 3 080 (0,20 %).
