The Armenian population of the Georgian village of Poka is collecting signatures under the request addressed to Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II to construct an Armenian Church in their village. The village of Poka, where about 1500 Armenians reside, is one of the most ancient inhabited locations of the Samtskhe-Javakheti region of Georgia. As reported by A-info, the ruins of two churches still remain in the village. One of them, the Church of Grigor the Enlightener was functioning before the establishment of the Soviet Power. The second church is said to be the Church of St. Nune, which is now being reconstructed with the efforts of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
