OKL ACTIVISTS TRIED TO FRUSTRATE NATO EXERCISE PLANNING CONFERENCE IN BAKU
Activists of the Azeri Organization for Karabakh Liberation (OKL) today tried to frustrate the conference on the planning of the Cooperative Best Effort-2004 NATO exercises being held in Baku. As a sign of protest against Armenian officers' arrival in Baku some 100 picketers organized an action in front of Europe Hotel, where the conference is held. Some of them managed to evade the cordon of the policemen and security of the hotel and to approach the doors of the conference hall. Having encountered the locked doors, the activists broke them and rushed into the hall, where the conference was held. However they were led out at once. Simultaneously, another group of OKL members tried to stop the traffic in the Tbilisi Avenue, where Europe Hotel is situated. As a result the law-enforcement bodies detained some 10 OKL activists.
