Armenian President: unlocking closed borders may build mutual trust

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan issued a welcome speech addressing the participants of the 39th plenary sitting of Parliamentary Assembly of the organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC), ongoing in Yerevan.

President Sargsyan said that Armenia attaches great importance to the activity of international organizations, particularly the BSEC, and the “development of its parliamentary format as a key institution for regional cooperation.”

Armenian leader further underscored the role parliamentary diplomacy plays in the modern world, particularly in human rights protection.

“Only developed regional cooperation, unlocking the closed roads and partnership in various fields may create atmosphere of mutual trust, which, in turn, may serve basis for peaceful resolution of all the disputes,” President Sargsyan said.

In this context he highlighted the role of PABSEC, voicing hope for deepening of political dialogue and economic cooperation.

“Armenia welcomes any initiative aimed at ensuring atmosphere of mutual trust in the region,” he said.

On May 21-23, PABSEC plenary sitting is underway in Yerevan, with 70 delegates from 10 countries participating in it.
