EU can’t decide instead of OSCE – EU official

PanARMENIAN.Net - The alternation of OSCE Minsk Group format on Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement is very risky, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia said.

“The European Union is currently holding discussion on its role in Karabakh resolution. The issue of replacing France’s mandate with that of the EU in the Minsk Group is also discussed. This is beyond the scope of our authority. EU can’t take a decision instead of the EU,” Ambassador Philippe Lefort said.

He further stated that the OSCE Minsk Group format can’t be changed due to its having developed the Madrid Principles, the sole document both parties have agreed to.
