BarCamp Yerevan 2012 non-official IT conference launched

PanARMENIAN.Net - BarCamp Yerevan 2012 non-official IT, new media and Internet conference has launched in Armenian capital on June 9, with conference participants to deliver presentations right after the opening ceremony.

Among June 9 speechmakers are special guests of BarCamp Yerevan 2012: Deputy Promotion and Social Media Director at RIA Novosti Russian news agency Lana Pinyaeva; Editor-in-chief of Moskovskie Novosti online source Alexander Bogomolov.

According to event organizers, over 1000 have already registered for participation.

The conference, to last till June 10, is sponsored by Alternative Resources in Media (ARM) project and Internews Armenia with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), AtTask, BetConstruct and Be2 companies and RIA Novosti. Orange Armenia is the general partner of the event.

The philosophy of BarCamp is the following: all presentations are given by participants themselves, with no formally invited guest speakers and without the formality of traditional conference. Most revealing, the schedule of events is “produced” by the participants of the conference and is formed only after the conference opens, as participants add the presentations they want to hold on a white board.
