Tim Roth to join David Cronenberg's

PanARMENIAN.Net - Tim Roth is about to explore the cutting edge of television programming. "Lie to Me" star Roth has signed on to star in "Knifeman," David Cronenberg's maiden foray into television, TheWrap said.

Roth will play John Tattersall in the series, which chronicles "the trials and triumphs of a radical, self-educated surgeon" who goes to "extraordinary and unorthodox lengths ... to uncover the secrets of the human body."

Cronenberg will direct the pilot episode of the series, which is based on the Wendy Moore book "The Knife Man," and will executive-produce the series. "Friday Night Lights" writer/producer Rolin Jones, who's writing the series, is also executive-producing, along with Sam Raimi, Josh Donen and Robert Zotnowski. Renee Tab of Sentient Entertainment is co-executive producing.

Media Rights Capital, which is behind Kevin Spacey's upcoming Netflix series "House of Cards," is producing the series.
