"The Bourne Legacy" spy flick release rescheduledJune 24, 2012 - 16:05 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The release of "The Bourne Legacy" was pushed up a week to Aug. 10 to avoid overlapping with the expected blockbuster opening of "The Dark Knight Rises," Universal Pictures announced, according to TheWrap. "The Bourne Legacy," the latest installment in Universal's "Bourne" series, was originally slated to open Aug. 3, two weeks after the release of the highly anticipated Batman sequel. "'Just as 'The Avengers' demonstrated marketplace sustainability that well outpaced traditional patterns earlier this summer, the industry expects a similar trajectory for 'The Dark Knight Rises,'" the company said in a statement. "Moving one week further from its release will give 'The Bourne Legacy' an even greater opportunity to maximize its opening box office potential." The Bourne action spy film is the fourth installment in the eponymous Bourne film series, which is based on Robert Ludlum's Jason Bourne novels. It is directed by Tony Gilroy, screenwriter of the first three films. The film is named after, but not based on, The Bourne Legacy, a later Bourne novel written by Eric Van Lustbader. The film stars Jeremy Renner, Edward Norton, Rachel Weisz, Albert Finney, Joan Allen, Scott Glenn, Stacy Keach and Oscar Isaac.
