AZERI FM AND GEORGIAN PRESIDENT VIEWED POSSIBILITY OF KARS-AKHALKALAKI RAILWAY CONSTRUCTION
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov reported that "the possibility of constructing a railway between Kars (Turkey) and Akhalkalaki (Georgia) was discussed" during his meeting with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili last Wednesday. "The technical-economic basis for the construction of the railway already exists", he stated. This railway will enable Azerbaijan to establish connection with Turkey via Georgia. To note, the railway is supposed to be laid through the Armenian-inhabited Samtskhe-Javakhetia region of Georgia.
