Matt Damon, Jeremy Renner to team up for 5th “Bourne” flick?

PanARMENIAN.Net - Will Matt Damon and Jeremy Renner star together in a "Bourne" movie? Though it's still too early to speculate on the possibility, "The Bourne Legacy" producer Frank Marshall teased that the collaboration could happen in the fifth movie, AceShowbiz said.

Marshall hinted at the intriguing possibility during a recent interview with Empire magazine. "You see there are several different programs in the movie with different skill sets," he said before teasing, "All possibilities are open. My dream is that in the next one we see Matt and Jeremy team up."

During the chat, Renner was also asked to explain his new lead character Aaron Cross. "He's coming from a completely different background to Jason [Bourner]," said Renner. "He knows exactly who he is; he signed up to this..."

"He wants to be part of a team. I can tell you he was in the military then he joined the program," so the Hawkeye depicter in "The Avengers" explained. "He's a person who wants to be part of something... to have a sense of purpose. But then it's taken away."

Discussing the differences between "Bourne Legacy" and its predecessors, Renner gushed, "If you think of the first three Bourne films as Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, then we're showing you Elsinore. You thought you were seeing something you weren't. What if there's a much larger story? What if Treadstone wasn't the only black-ops program?"

"I had never spent one moment thinking about how to do a sequel to Bourne Ultimatum. I first came in for two weeks just to spitball," he added. "I had a very random idea...so we started with that and it got more and more exciting. All of a sudden I was staring at something that had a great deal of resonance and was soulful and uncynical and was also gonna kick ass. So that was good."

"Bourne Legacy" follows a new hero (Renner) whose life-or-death stakes have been triggered by the events of the first three films. Joining Renner in the cast ensemble are Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Oscar Isaac, Joan Allen and Albert Finney. The movie is slated for an August 10 release in the United States.
