NO SINGLE ARMENIAN VEHICLE CROSSED GEORGIAN-RUSSIAN BORDER LATELYOctober 9, 2004 - 19:13 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - No single Armenian vehicle crossed the Georgian-Russian border at Verkhni Lars checkpoint lately, chairman of the Armenian Union of Carriers and Suppliers Gagik Aghadzhanian told Arminfo news agency. He also expressed the opinion that opening of the border is still a long way off. To remind, Armenian Minister of Transport and Communications told in his interview with RFE/RL that as result of negotiations held on the phone by the Armenian and Russian Presidents the agreement on opening Verkhni Lars checkpoint was achieved, so that it remained only to negotiate with the Georgian party. However, at present over 1000 Armenian vehicle are standing idle at the Russian sector of the border.![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
