ANC member sees Levon Ter-Petrossian as bloc’s presidential nomineeJuly 2, 2012 - 19:21 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The leader of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) Levon Ter-Petrossian will be the bloc’s candidate at the upcoming presidential election, according to ANC member Aram Manukyan. As Manukyan told a July 2 press conference in Yerevan, “there is no other figure capable of uniting the opposition, however, it’s still early to speak of a common opposition candidate nomination.” As to the factors which could influence the decision, Manukyan pointed to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement process and regional issues, including the situation in Syria and Iran’s nuclear program. As to the internal political situation, the ANC member said the current problems with corruption, inflation and emigration rate will make the Congress take up a new policy.
