  Golden Apricot: Czech helmer features “Back to Square” Egypt revolution film July 13, 2012 - 17:40 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Petr Lom’s “Back to the Square” is featured at Golden Apricot Yerevan-hosted international film festival. “The film tells the story of Egypt’s revolution, all-permeating unfairness, and issues the whole humankind can relate to,” the helmer said. The film has been shot in Egypt for ten months before the start of the revolution in January. A year later, protests continue, but the euphoria of Tahrir Square and Egyptian Velvet Revolution have given way to a more sober realization that Egypt has a long struggle ahead to free itself of dictatorship, corruption, and above all, a widespread abuse of basic human rights. The film follows five different characters from very different aspects of Egyptian society, all of whom have suffered injustice since the revolution. A Ph.D. in political philosophy from Harvard, Petr Lom gave up his university career in 2003 to become a fulltime documentary filmmaker specializing in human rights subjects.
