Linkedin to integrate its service with Microsoft's Outlook email client

PanARMENIAN.Net - Social network Linkedin has announced that it plans to integrate its service with Microsoft's Outlook email client, The Inquirer reports.

Weeks after Linkedin suffered a major security breach, the firm announced that it has been working closely with Microsoft to create a plug-in that will tie contacts from Linkedin to Microsoft's Outlook email client. David Breger, a product manager at Linkedin said the next version of Microsoft Office will have the Linkedin plug-in installed by default.

Breger said users will have to login once with their Linkedin account details and will then be able to see profile information within Outlook. Information from Linkedin will also be displayed on People Cards, which Microsoft is touting as a new feature in its upcoming version of Office.

Breger said, "We know many of you spend a lot of your professional hours working in email and we believe the integrated Outlook Social Connector for the new Office will help you be even more efficient and productive. Not only will you be able to keep track of what your LinkedIn connections are discussing and sharing, you'll have easy access to photos, contact information and LinkedIn profile details right at your fingertips - without ever leaving Office."

Linkedin is also working on an app for the Microsoft Office app store but Breger did not provide any further details.
