ARMENIAN OPPOSITION LOST FOR LACK OF FOREIGN SUPPORT
"There was a period during Karabakh war (1991-92) when our soldiers fought against the Russian army and the European states supported us", Aram Z. Sargsian, leader of Republic opposition party, brother of Armenian Prime Minister Vazgen Sagrsian killed in 1999 stated. In his interview with Aravot newspaper he expressed his opinion on the reasons of failure of the Armenian opposition against the background of the Georgian and Ukrainian oppositionists. According to him, the decisive factor for the successful change of power is the support rendered from "outside". "Before coming to power the former Georgian opposition possessed serious funds, Ukrainian opposition is not poor either, while we can count on our strength only", he stated.
