DUE TO GEOGRAPHY, HISTORY AND TIES BETWEEN NATIONS RUSSIA'S INTERESTS ARE BOUND WITH INTERESTS OF AZERBAIJAN AND ARMENIA

Due to geography, history and ties between the nations Russia's interests are bound with interests of Azerbaijan and Armenia, stated Russian Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group in 1992-1996 Vladimir Kazimirov said in his interview placed on Yerkir.am website. In his words, Moscow is strongly interested in stability in the region. That is why Russia was doomed to struggle for curbing the bloodshed in Karabakh and now is doomed to search for peaceful ways of the conflict settlement. Beside the population of Karabakh, Armenia and Azerbaijan no one in the world is interested in the soonest resolution of the conflict more than Russia. When commenting on the opinion that Russia is losing control in the South Caucasus. Mr. Kazimirov said that Russia's influence in the Transcaucasus can hardly be defined as control. With the formation of independent states the states the control passed to them and now it is important for them not to lose it. With the development of the human society simultaneously with the involvement of all the states into the global processes the palpi of transnational monsters are crawling. In this situation regions cannot remain untouchable by both positive and negative processes for a long time, he noted. "Russia's influence will be conditioned by geography, history, cultural links and ties if human fates. Did the flow of Azerbaijanis and Armenians decrease after these states obtained independence?" he added.
