ARMENIAN AUTHORITIES READY TO ASSIST WASHINGTON TO INVESTIGATE ILLEGAL ARMS TRADE WITH USMarch 16, 2005 - 11:26 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian authorities are ready to assist the US in every way to investigate the fact of illegal trade of arms in the US, Press Secretary of the Armenian President Victor Soghomonian stated, when commenting on the arrest of Armenia-born Artur Solomonian, Mediamax news agency reported. Along with citizens of Russia, Georgia and the US Artur Solomonian is charged for selling Russian military equipment in the US territory. «Armenian authorities are ready to assist the investigation of the circumstances of the matter in every way. The law-enforcement bodies of Armenia do not have information about the contraband coming-out of arms from Armenia and are much interested in the holding of the investigation and calling members of the criminal group to account,» noted Victor Soghomonian. It should be reminded that a group of smugglers is detained in the US. Its 18 members are charged for contraband of arms produced in Russia. The gang leader was Artur Solomonian, 26. He and 4 other prisoners, including 33-year-old South-African Christian Spice, were accused for collusion to transport arms. The rest 13 smugglers are charged for providing machine-guns and other arms to Solomonian and Spice. Solomonian and Spice can be imprisoned for 30 years.
