ARFD: MPs were beaten up before arrest during Ter-Petrossian presidency

PanARMENIAN.Net - ARF Dashnaktsutyun parliamentary group leader Vahan Hovhannissian commented on Armenian National Congress (ANC) member Nikol Pashinyan’s remarks about ex-minister Vartan Oskanian and authorities.

“Progress has been recorded in the recent years, MPs are no longer beaten up today before arrest as they were in the past,” Mr. Hovhannissian said with irony.

Dwelling on Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan’s proposal to strip ex-minister Oskanian of immunity, ARFD representative said, “It’s not the case when deprivation of immunity contributes to consolidation of the legislative field.”

He further suggested other MPs follow Mr. Oskanian’s case and tell about their sources of income.

“Many will prefer not to utter a word as they will be arrested without being striped of congressional immunity,” he said.
