Benedict Cumberbatch poised to play Julian Assange in biopic?

PanARMENIAN.Net - Benedict Cumberbatch is reportedly in talks to play Julian Assange in an upcoming biopic, Digital Spy said citing Deadline.

The Sherlock actor would star as the WikiLeaks founder, alongside Joel Kinnaman (RoboCop) as Assange's (now former) right-hand man Daniel Domscheit-Berg, who wrote the book upon which the script is partially based.

Bill Condon, who directed both Part 1 and the upcoming Part 2 of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, will direct the biopic.

DreamWorks is producing the film, which is based partly on Domscheit-Berg's book Inside WikiLeaks: My Time With Julian Assange at the World's Most Dangerous Website, and partly on David Leigh and Luke Harding's book WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange's War on Secrecy.

Former The West Wing and Fringe writer Josh Singer penned the script.

It was reported earlier this year that Jeremy Renner was interested in the role of Assange.
