Ex-coach skeptical over Vanes Martirosyan’s win vs. Erislandy Lara

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian-American boxer Vanes Martirosyan will face off against Cuba’s Erislandy Lara on November 10 in Las Vegas.

Lara's trainer Ronnie Shields who used to train Martirosyan said that the 2004 Olympian hasn't improved as a fighter, BoxingScene reported.

“He’s been winning. That’s the only thing that’s better. But he’s never fought anyone like Erislandy Lara. He’s never fought anyone close to the skills of Erislandy Lara. Vanes is a tough guy, a great fighter, but he’s just going to get outclassed in this fight,” Shields stated.

I spoke to Martirosyan to get his thoughts on Shield's comments. The Armenian fighter usually isn't shy about giving his opinion but held back from saying too much.

"I'm going to show them how to beat Lara on November 10," Martirosyan confidently said.

Martirosyan finished our conversation by wishing the best to Shields and Lara and promised to put on a good fight.

"We are going to do our talking in the ring. They don't even know (what is going to happen). I wish them the best in their camp. God Bless, see you on November 10. Its going to be a great fight," Martirosyan said.
