Paper: ARFD doesn’t see Vahan Hovhannisyan as presidential nominee

According to Hraparak daily, ARF Dashnaktsutyun is having a hard time deciding on a candidate for the upcoming presidential elections or even participation in the race.

According to some sources, the party no longer sees Vahan Hovhannisyan as a possible presidential nominee, with Hrant Markaryan’s candidacy discussed.

However, the latter refused, preferring the status of the head of ARFD bureau to that of a president. Thus, the party has failed to come to an agreement as to a possible nominee.

Serzh Sargsyan, Robert Kocharian, Vartan Oskanian were struck out of the list of possible contenders, with the party also refusing to support oligarch Gagik Tsarukyan.

“Nominating Artsvik Manukyan or Artyusha Shahbazyan may become the only option in case the party eventually decides to participate in the race,” the paper said.
