Famed soprano Sarah Brightman books flight to space station October 11, 2012 - 16:06 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Sarah Brightman's next project will truly be out of this world, TheWrap said. "Phantom of the Opera" singer Brightman announced that she plans to travel to and sing aboard the International Space Station, making her the first professional musician to sing from space. Brightman's trip will be scheduled in the coming months. During her stay on the space station, which will last an estimated 10 days, the singer will orbit the Earth 16 times a day. The space jaunt, which will occur in partnership with private space-experience company Space Adventures, Ltd., isn't just for kicks and bragging rights; as an Artist for Peace ambassador for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Brightman will advocate for UNESCO's platform of peace and sustainable development on Earth. The trip will also serve to promote a greater role for females in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields. “I don’t think of myself as a dreamer. Rather, I am a dream chaser,” Brightman - who, perhaps not coincidentally, will release an album titled "Dreamchaser" in January -said. “I hope that I can encourage others to take inspiration from my journey both to chase down their own dreams and to help fulfill the important UNESCO mandate to promote peace and sustainable development on earth and from space. I am determined that this journey can reach out to be a force for good, a catalyst for some of the dreams and aims of others that resonate with me.” The British singer will begin a six-month training session for the space trip following her world tour next year.
