Zlatan Ibrahimovic gets Golden Foot 2012 award

Swedish forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic received the Golden Foot 2012 award Wednesday, Oct 17, given to soccer players with exceptional career achievements over 29 years old, sports.terra.com reports.

Ibrahimovic took home the award with more votes than such notable competition as Spain's Iker Casillas, Xavi Hernandez and Carles Puyol, Ivorian Didier Drogba and Italian Andrea Pirlo.

Ibrahimovic, 31, plays for high-powered French club Paris Saint-Germain and was an integral part of the Swedish national team that completed a miraculous comeback against Germany in a World Cup qualifying game on Tuesday, scoring four second half goals.

Ibrahimovic has played on some of Europe's biggest teams, including Barcelona, Milan, Inter, Juventus and Ajax. He has won league championships in every country where he's played.

The star forward's trophy cabinet is also filled with individual accolades including the Best Swedish Player of the Year in 2007, 2008 and 2010, and the Player of the Year in Italy in 2009 and 2011. He has also been named to UEFA's Ideal Eleven twice, in 2007 and 2009.
