Union Pictures nabs “Ginger & Rosa” Toronto film fest hit

PanARMENIAN.Net - Canadian distributor Union Pictures has grabbed the Canadian rights to Sally Potter’s coming-of-age drama Ginger & Rosa ahead of an early 2013 theatrical release, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The AFM deal follows screenings of the Elle Fanning and Alice Englert-starrer at Telluride, Toronto and the New York Film Festival.

A24 earlier acquired the U.S. rights to Potter’s drama about two teenage girls in 1962 London, and plans a qualifying run in 2012 for awards consideration, followed by an early 2013 theatrical release stateside.

The Canadian deal was negotiated by Robin Cass, Sandra Cunningham and Cam Haynes for Union Pictures, with Bart Walker and Ram Murali of Cinetic Media acting for the filmmakers.

Ginger & Rosa was produced by Christopher Sheppard and Andrew Litvin for Adventure Pictures.
