ANM upset over cooperation with Prosperous Armenia – paper

PanARMENIAN.Net - According to Hrapaprak daily, Armenian National Movement (ANM) was supposed to hold a congress in September, in line with Armenia’s law on parties. The event was delayed to November, yet expectations are low for it to actually be held.

“Discontent is brewing up in ANM, with Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc’s delay in nominating a presidential candidate and Prosperous Armenia party cooperation-related issues behind it.

ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrossian’s failing to enter presidential race, with the Congress to support a Prosperous Armenia candidate may have serious impact on ANM,” the paper said

As ANM vice chair Vahagn Hayotsyan noted, the congress will take place by late December, to be preceded by a political council meeting.

The vice chair confirmed the Movement’s intention to reelect Aram Manukyan as ANM leader. However, as the paper said, Babken Ararktsyan’s candidacy for the post is being debated.
