Paramount Pictures and MGM will produce Brett Ratner's Hercules, Digital Spy said citing Deadline.

Dwayne Johnson will play the mythical strongman in the upcoming action film.

Hercules is based on a screenplay by Ryan Condal, adapted from the Radical Studios graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian Wars.

Evan Spiliotopoulos has provided revisions to Condal's screenplay, while Beau Flynn, Barry Levine and Ratner will serve as co-producers.

Johnson, who was confirmed for the project earlier this year, recently signed up for another graphic novel adaptation in the shape of Barry Sonnenfeld's Lore.

Hercules will enter production early next year.
