Abbas fails to get in touch with Hamas leaders in Gaza

PanARMENIAN.Net - Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Friday, Nov 16, called for unity among rival Palestinian factions in light of Operation Pillar of Defense, but noted he has not been able to get in touch with Hamas leaders in Gaza, The Jerusalem Post reported.

Describing the Israeli military operation as an attack on all Palestinians and not only Hamas, Abbas said now is the time for Palestinian reconciliation.

The PA president added that Operation Pillar of Defense was intended to sabotage his bid to seek an upgrade of statehood status in the UN.
