Prosperous Armenia party readying convention – paper

According to Hraparak daily, Prosperous Armenia party has recently declared that a decision on the format of participation in upcoming presidential race may be taken at the party's political council sitting, a convention being unnecessary. However, according to recent reports, the party is readying for a convention.

As the party's spokesman Tigran Urikanyan noted, “rumors are that the party's convention will be used to announce a presidential candidate. However, we'll make sure to inform media as soon as we schedule a convention.”

“Sources close to Prosperous Armenia note that the issue of nominating Vartan Oskanian for president is closed, with the candidacy of Gagik Tsarukyan being debated,” the daily said.
