The revised application features speedier loading times for newsfeeds and timelines, as well as the option to choose which album photo uploads appear in. The news comes one week after the social network released a new native app for Android devices, offering enhanced speeds and navigation compared to its HTML5-based predecessor. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg previously identified the mobile sector as an area of intense interest for his company, vowing to invest heavily in the market. Zuckerberg's firm released a standalone Messenger app for smartphones earlier this month, its first product that does not require a Facebook account to use. The new Facebook app is available to download from iTunes and the App Store. An update for the existing app is currently being rolled out.
