Berlin Film Fest’s Generation section line-up titles named

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Cold Lands, a drama from actor/director Tom Gilroy featuring Lili Taylor and John Ventimiglia and Kenyan-set documentary Tough Bond from directors Austin Peck and Anneliese Vandenberg are among the features that will have their world premiere in the Generation section of the Berlin International Film Festival in February, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The 2013 line-up for the Generation sidebar - which highlights children and youth films - includes rural drama Hide Your Smiling Faces from director David Patrick Carbone; Australian feature Satellite Boy from director Catriona McKenzie which stars Aboriginal actor David Gulpilil (The Proposition); New Zealand drama Shopping from directors Louis Sutherland and Mark Albiston and Baby Blues, a Polish drama from director Kasia Roslaniec.

Festival programmers confirmed three Asian titles that will screen in the Generation's 14 Plus section: Ryota Nakano's Capturing Dad, Pluto from Korean director Shin Suwon and Touch of the Light, a Taiwanese-set feature from director Chang Jung-Chi.

Geneation's Kplus section, which targets younger viewers, will include UPSIDEdown, a German drama from director Bernd Sahling about a boy diagnosed with ADHD; Mother, I Love You by Latvian helmer Janis Nords; The Haitian-set feature Three Kids from director Jonas d’Adesky; The Rocket from Australian director Kim Mordaunt, about a family traveling through war-torn Laos and WASTELAND - So That No One Becomes Aware of It, a German documentary about child refugees, told through their own words and images.

The remaining titles in the Generation line-up will be announced early next year. The 63rd Berlin International Film Festival runs Feb.7-17, 2013.
