“Les Miserables” wins No 1. spot in Billboard Soundtracks chart

PanARMENIAN.Net - Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway and Russell Crowe have a bestselling album, TheWrap said.

"Les Miserables: Highlights From the Motion Picture Soundtrack," has claimed the top spot on Billboard’s Soundtracks chart, moving 43,000 copies in the first week. It went on sale Friday, Dec. 21, meaning it claimed that spot despite only three days of measurement.

SoundScan’s tracking for last week was through Sunday Dec. 23.

The film itself rules the box office, grossing more than $30 million domestically since its Christmas debut. Its soundtrack -- or highlights from it -- also debuted at No. 33 on the Billboard 200.

The majority of those sales, 60 percent, came from digital downloads.

The album features 20 songs from the film as performed by Hathaway, Crowe, Jackman as well as cast members Eddie Redmayne and Amanda Seyfried.

Hathaway, who is expected to earn an Oscar nomination, can lay claim to the top single as “I Dreamed a Dream” has so far sold 20,000 copies.
