MONTREAL NEWSPAPER WRITES ABOUT ARMENIAN GENOCIDE WITHOUT QUOTES
The Gazette newspaper being issued in Montreal stated about its intention to use the phrase «Armenian Genocide». «Historical facts show that what happened in Turkey in 1915 was a genocide. Reporters and editors have the right to use the word genocide freely and without quotes,» says a statement of the newspaper leaders. The statement also notes, «in case of need we can provide proof that Turkey denies Armenian claims, however each time speaking of the Armenian Genocide we are not obliged to remind that Turkey denies it.» Leading US newspapers - the Boston Globe and New York Times lately pursue such policy, reported RFE/RL.
