Windows 8 sells 60 million licensesJanuary 12, 2013 - 12:52 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Microsoft has announced that Windows 8 has reached the milestone of 60 million licenses sold, Digital Spy reported. The figure, which includes both Windows 7 upgrades and new installations, has risen by around 20 million since November. Windows 8 is now in line with its predecessor in terms of initial sales, with Windows 7 managing an average of 19.7 million license sales per month during its first nine months on the market. Microsoft did not confirm what percentage of the figure accounts for new installations, or reveal how much of it was down to the Windows RT tablet-based iteration of the software. However, the software giant did announce that there are now more than 1,700 systems certified to run versions of Windows 8, including desktop PCs, laptops and tablet devices. Microsoft is expected to release its Windows 8-powered Surface Pro tablet later this month. Top stories Yerevan will host the 2024 edition of the World Congress On Information Technology (WCIT).
