Facebook could be set to announce its own search engine, according to recent reports, Trusted Reviews said.

The king of social networks is set to hold an event at its head quarters later today, January 15 at 5pm UK time. So far the nature of this announcement has remained a complete mystery - at least in terms of officially confirmed news.

The internet has been rife with speculation as to what Mark Zuckerberg might be announcing. Some have gone back to the rumours of a Facebook phone, whilst some jokers have suggested that Facebook will close down altogether.

Arguably the most interesting suggestion comes from Pocket-lint, which suggests that Facebook will be announcing a Facebook search engine.

Whilst details are sketchy, sources claim that the company will launch a "search feature" for the service "very soon."
