ARMENIA PARTICIPATING IN EXERCISE OF CIS AIR DEFENSE UNIFIED SYSTEM IN KAZAKHSTAN
Today the second phase of large-scale tactical maneuvers "Military Cooperation 2005" starts in Kazakhstan. The purpose of the exercise is to work out cooperative actions in the Central Asian region of the collective security region. The first phase was conducted in the Chita region of Russia June 24-July 10. The final stage will be held August 22-31 in the Astrakhan region with the participation of the air defense troops of Armenia, Russia, Belarus and Tajikistan. The unified CIS air defense system was formed 10 years ago for the defense of the state borders in the airspace, Centran agency reports.
