Number of RPA, Heritage voters to remain unchanged

PanARMENIAN.Net - The number of supporters of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and Heritage has increased, with Prosperous Armenia losing electorate due to refusal to nominate a presidential candidate, Gallup organization representative Rasa Alisauskiene said.

The public opinion poll, conducted jointly with Armenian Sociological Association, revealed that 69% of the voters back the incumbent president, with 11% supporting Heritage leader Raffi Hovannisian and 5% of voters - Hrant Bagratyan and Paruyr Hayrikyan.

During Jan 25-Feb 2 polls, 78% of citizens having voiced readiness to vote for candidate Hovannisian said they wouldn’t change their mind, with 73% of the respondents to back current leader Serzh Sargsyan.

The organization representative further noted that the number of the possible voters grew during the second survey.

“Besides TV, Internet and radio, billboards and leaflets served source of information for the voters,” Rasa Alisauskiene said, adding that the 4th stage of the survey will be conducted on Feb 18.
