UK Under Secretary refuses to assess Stepanakert airport issue

PanARMENIAN.Net - UK tries to promote the OSCE Minsk Group’s mediatory activities in Karabakh conflict settlement, the Permanent Under Secretary in the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office said.

As Simon Fraser told a news conference in Yerevan, the conflict settlement talks have been dragging on for a while now. He further stressed the importance of a peaceful solution, non-violation of ceasefire, while respecting the people’s right for self-determination and territorial integrity.

Commenting on Azeri threats to shoot down Karabakh-bound civil planes, Mr Fraser advised avoiding actions that might lead to unpredictable consequences, also urging transparency in all the steps initiated.

“I don’t have authority to provide a more detail assessment on the issue,” he said.
