IFC Midnight nabs "Splice" helmer’s "Haunter" thriller March 12, 2013 - 13:50 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - IFC Midnight has acquired U.S. distribution rights to "Haunter" a supernatural horror thriller starring Abigail Breslin, TheWrap said. The company made the announcement at the South by Southwest Film Festival, where the film premiered last week. Breslin will next be on screen in the Halle Berry thriller "The Call." "Haunter" is directed by Canada's Vincenzo Natali from a screenplay by Brian King. Stephen McHattie, Peter Outerbridge, Michelle Nolden and David Hewlett co-star. It tells the story of 15-year-old Lisa Johnson (Breslin), who with her family is forced to forever repeat the day on which they were all killed. With the help of a mysterious friend, Lisa discovers the house once belonged to a serial killer who has become an evil spirit able to possess the living. Natali's most recent directing effort was "Splice," a 2010 sci-fi horror film distributed by Warner Bros. that starred Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley and was exective produced by Guillermo del Toro. "Haunter" was produced by Steven Hoban and Mark Smith. John Raymonds and Wild Bunch's Vincent Miraval executive produce.
