Armenian President to Leave for Brussels Next Week
Armenian President Robert Kocharian today met with EU Ambassadors accredited in Armenia and representative of the European Commission delegation, reported the Press Service of the Armenian leader. Kocharian is scheduled to visit Brussels and European structures next week. In the course of his visit the Armenian leader intends to discuss cooperation prospects, specifically matters referring to the Action Plan within the framework of the European Neighborhood Policy. The European Neighborhood Policy raised the relations between EU and Armenia, as well as those between Armenia and EU member states to a qualitatively new level, Mr. Kocharian remarked having emphasized the importance of the Policy. In his words, within the Action Plan the Armenian party is going to specify aspects of cooperation with individual countries, which will provide an opportunity to work more efficiently. The interlocutors exchanged views over holding the constitutional referendum in Armenia. In the opinion of the meeting participants, the reforms being proposed represent huge progress and allow making the Constitution of Armenia comply with European standards.
