Syria-based Armenians to be offered $ 100 000 monthly assistance

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan met with heads of NGOs and religious organizations.

Minister Hakobyan briefed the guests on the current state of the Syria’s Armenian community and the programs aiming to support Syrian Armenians having moved to the homeland. She further expressed gratitude to the NGO that contributed to the solution of the community’s problems.

By Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan’s decree, an interdepartmental committee on the coordination of Syrian Armenian issues was set up.

Committee secretary L. Stepanyan briefed the participants on the joint activates of state and non-governmental organizations, measures taken to facilitate visa and residence status provision, as well as the legislative reforms aiming to solve education and health problems.

Minister Hakobyan said the program aiming to provide Syrians Armenians with housing opportunities in Yerevan suburbs is being developed, with USD 100 000 monthly assistance to be extended to social vulnerable groups of Syria-based Armenians for the coming months.
