Armenia, EU seek to complete Association Agreement talks by Nov

PanARMENIAN.Net - On March 19, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met with director of European External Action Service, chief negotiator on Association Agreement with Armenia Gunnar Wiegand, currently in Yerevan.

Welcoming the guest, Minister Nalbandian noted that the Association Agreement talks, started in 2010, will soon be completed, with free trade zone negotiations under way.

He hailed Armenian authorities’ implementation of large-scale reforms, with the EU ready to extend additional funding to Armenia.

The two men further noted completion of the negotiations by Eastern Partnership Summit, due in November, 2013, as the parties’ common goal.

Formation of the Association agenda to later replace European Neighborhood Policy action program was further discussed.

The meeting was followed by the 12th plenary sitting as part of the Association talks, with Minister Nalbandian delivering an opening speech.
