Wes Anderson’s star-studded “Grand Budapest Hotel” plot details revealed

PanARMENIAN.Net - Coming off of last year’s magnificent Moonrise Kingdom, writer/director Wes Anderson is currently in the midst of filming his highly anticipated follow-up, a period film called The Grand Budapest Hotel. Plot details for the pic have been hard to come by thus far, but it’s known that it takes place in 1927 and centers around the goings-on at a Hungarian hotel, Collider said.

Now a full synopsis has landed online, revealing that the central story involves a legendary concierge and a young employee who becomes his trusted protégé, with a litany of other fascinating plot points taking place at the titular hotel. Given that Ralph Fiennes and Saoirse Ronan are leading the stellar ensemble, one assumes they will be playing the concierge and protégé.

The pic also stars Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Owen Wilson, Jason Schwartzman, Jude Law, Tilda Swinton, Jeff Goldblum, and Willem Dafoe.

In addition to the synopsis news, Fox Searchlight has acquired worldwide rights to The Grand Budapest Hotel and is said to be eyeing a possible late 2013 release. Given that Anderson is coming off some of the best reviews of his career for Moonrise Kingdom, the studio is likely hoping to garner some awards season buzz from his next pic. Production is still taking place in Europe so it remains to be seen if Anderson will be done with the film in time, but Searchlight has a rather thin lineup of films on their fall slate at the moment, so Grand Budapest would certainly make a swell addition, according to Colloder.
