Report: Amazon Kindle smartphone to feature 4.7-inch displayMarch 29, 2013 - 13:38 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Amazon's much-rumoured Kindle smartphone will feature a 4.7-inch display and arrive during Q2, according to a report, Digital Spy said. DigiTimes quotes supply chain sources claiming that the internet retailer has abandoned plans to include a 4.3-inch screen in the device due to the consumer demand for phones with larger displays. However, the report notes that Amazon could struggle to meet the Q2 launch date it is targeting due to supply shortages at manufacturing partner Foxconn. A Kindle-branded smartphone has been strongly rumoured for some time, but the company is yet to officially announce that such a device is in development. It has been speculated that the handset will run the heavily-modified version of the Android operating system found on Kindle tablets, and be sold at between £60 and £120. Recent reports suggest that Amazon is researching battery-less technology, hinting at a possible future direction for the Kindle line.
