“The Mummy” helmer to direct “Crash Bandits” action flickApril 14, 2013 - 17:15 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Rob Cohen has come aboard to direct Crash Bandits, an action-adventure movie being made by Nu Image/Millennium, The Hollywood Reporter said. The project centers on the rivalry between two treasure hunters who specialize in salvaging old plane wrecks. When they get a beat on the ultimate prize, they find themselves in a race against each other in the Amazon jungle. Michael Stokes wrote the original script, but Cohen will do a rewrite as part of his development deal. Johnny Martin, David Raines, Kevin King and Mark Canton are producing. Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson and John Thompson are executive producing. The project almost got off the ground when it was being produced by Bauer Martinez Studios and had John McTiernan on board to direct and Hayden Christensen to star. Cohen has made a career out of directing action movies and counts The Fast and the Furious, XXX and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor among his credits.
