“The Kings of Summer” Sundance dramedy trailer released

PanARMENIAN.Net - For many adolescents, summer signals the start of endless days spent in a homemade tree house. But the in The Kings of Summer -- formerly titled Toy's House -- three boys are looking to be free of more than just school.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, in CBS Films' new dramedy, newcomers Nick Robinson and Gabriel Basso have the classic teenage case of feeling misunderstood. Fed up with living by their parents' rules, complete with the constant embarrassment from their clueless superiors, the duo pick up a new companion (Moises Arias, Hannah Montana) and set out to build a makeshift home in the woods. The boys plan fake kidnappings to help them escape from their parents, played by Nick Offerman, Megan Mullaly and Marc Evan Jackson. Rounding out the cast is Alison Brie, Mary Lynn Rajskub and Erin Moriarty.

The teaser gives us a peek of the boys enjoying their freedom in the lake and banging to the tune of their own drums. They promise to live life without any rules and rely on the classic ways of survival, even if their version of catching their own kill is going back into town to hit up a local fast food spot.

After debuting at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, The Kings of Summer looks to revive the boyish rebellion nature of Lord of the Flies as the teenagers hope to have the ultimate summer -- or at least enjoy the fun while it lasts.

The film is slated to hit theaters on May 31.
