Armenia Delivered up Suspect in Murder to US
Armenia has delivered up Hakob Hakobyan, suspected in a murder in September 2000, to US law enforcement bodies. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Deputy Assistant Director in Los Angeles Stephen Tidwell stated that Hakobyan, 32, was brought to Los Angeles last weekend, where he was indicted for murder of Garnik Madoyan. H. Hakobyan was arrested in August 2005 with the assistance of law enforcement bodies of Armenia. This is a third case when Armenia delivers up a suspect in murder to US law enforcers. In the words of Stephen Tidwell, «good business relations are formed between Armenian and US law enforcement bodies.» Los Angeles authorities state G. Madoyan was shot by H. Hakobyan in a quarrel. Immediately after that H. Hakobyan left the US and hid in Armenia. Hakobyan is in a jail in Los Angeles at present, reported RFE/RL.
