PanARMENIAN.Net - A portrait by 17th century artist Diego Velazquez will be on view in the U.S. for the first time at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art through July 14, 2013.

Museum officials say "Portrait of Duke Francesco I d'Este" will be exhibited as part of the museum's renovated "New European Paintings Galleries, 1250 - 1800."

The painting is on special loan while its temporarily-closed home museum in Modena, Italy repairs damages suffered in a 2012 earthquake.
