"The Spectacular Now" helmer to direct Hillary Clinton biopicApril 30, 2013 - 14:58 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - "Smashed" and "The Spectacular Now" director James Ponsoldt is confirmed to serve behind the lens for "Rodham", a tale of the early years of former First Lady of the United States Hillary Clinton. The indie film is based on Kim Young Il's script, which was ranked fourth on 2012 Black List, AceShowbiz said. Set during the height of the Watergate scandal, "Rodham" centers on Hillary Rodham, the youngest lawyer chosen for the House Judiciary Committee to Impeach Nixon, who finds herself forced to choose between a destined path to the White House and her unresolved feelings for former boyfriend Bill Clinton, who is teaching law in Arkansas. The project will be executive produced by Isaac Klausner. Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen, meanwhile, are on board to produce the film. It is reported that the producers will approach an actress to join the project first before advancing to studios and independent financiers. Even though the project is still in the early development stage, The Wrap reports that several top actresses have voiced their interests in portraying Bill Clinton's wife, who is currently preparing for her 2016 Presidential run. Besides "Rodham", Ponsoldt is set to pen "Pippin", an adaptation of the Broadway musical of the same name, and to direct "Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock", a film which is based on Matthew Quick's novel.
