Orange grants scholarships to 20 students in Gyumri, Vanadzor

Today, May 2, the Orange Foundation granted scholarships to 20 students of Gyumri and Vanadzor branches of State Engineering (Polytechnic) University, in the framework of the cooperation program with the universities of Armenia.

“Assistance to the most promising students who have difficulties in paying their tuition fees is one of the components of this partnership,” said Francis Gelibter, Chairman of the Board of the Orange Foundation.

The Orange Foundation transferred AMD 2,000,000 million to the mentioned universities to use the amount for paying tuition fees of the mentioned 20 students. The students have been selected based on 2 criteria – student’s academic performance and family’s financial standing. Students of 9universities are expected to be granted scholarships based on the same criteria.

The partnership with the universities also enables the students to take professional internship at Orange. The establishment of WiFi corners is another component of the partnership – the Vanadzor branch of SEUA has already had one for a year while the WiFI corner at the Gyumri branch was launched during Francis Gelibter’s visit.

Partnership of Orange with the universities of Armenia has been launched two years ago. In 2011-2012, the Orange Foundation granted scholarships to 67 students of 6 universities, and in 2012-2013, scholarships will be granted to 95 students of 9 universities, including 70 students from RA provinces, the foundation’s press service reported.
