Today Armenian President Robert Kocharian had a meeting with Chair of the Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of Russia Sergey Mironov, reported Armenian leader's Press Service. Qualifying the dynamics of development of the Armenian-Russian bilateral relations as positive, R. Kocharian noted with content that the Year of Russia in Armenia was active and rich. The events held within the framework of the Year of Russia, visits at various levels, formed large opportunities for active contacts. The Armenian leader hoped for the experience gained to allow forming new cultural and humanitarian cooperation mechanisms. S. Mironov remarked that «the interparliamentary cooperation does not fall behind either.» He informed that Days of the Council of Federation of Russia opened in the Armenian Parliament today, while Days of the National Assembly of Armenia are planned to be held in the Federal Assembly of Russia next year.

Emphasizing that the current stage of Armenian-Russian relations is characterized by strengthening economic cooperation, R. Kocharian remarked the notable investment activities. Russian business is developing its activities in a number of fields in Armenia. The interlocutors also discussed inter-regional cooperation matters. In their words, the second conference on interregional cooperation in Yerevan will promote strengthening of the relations between administrative units in Armenia and Russia.
